UCC Holding Organizes Blood Donation Drive
In Support of Covid-19 Patients in Need of Blood Transfusion

UCC Holding successfully conducted a blood donation campaign in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to support the blood reserves of the Blood Donation Center. The donation campaign, held at Power International Holding's tower in Lusail, saw large and active participation of more than 135 registrations and more than 90 donated units of blood.

The HMC team had set up their mobile collection unit at PIH tower from 8am to 3pm. Employees from various affiliated companies showed their enthusiasm and awareness towards the importance of donating safely during the pandemic, to contribute to the recovery of Covid-19 patients who are in need of blood transfusion.

Most blood donation campaigns came to a halt due to lockdowns that were implemented across the world. Although covid-19 cannot be spread through blood transfusion, a positive patient could risk personnel involved in blood collection of virus infection.
However, social solidarity cannot be ruled out as blood donation is a constant demand. With this, UCC Holding and HMC have implemented strict preventive measures during the recent blood donation drive. Stringent measures include pre-registration to ensure that donors are free of the virus, have not previously traveled and are not exposed to someone with or potential to have covid-19.

UCC Holding has been organizing regular blood donation drives, promoting the theme “Every Blood Donor is a Life Saver”. The activity is held as part of UCC Holding’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. By taking part in a noble cause such as blood donation, UCC Holding believes that employees not only can save someone else’s life, but also improve on his or her health as well.
